In 2018, Jacksonville had a seemingly never ending ellipsis after each name as the pandemic against Black trans life continued to rage on. The massacre at Pulse rocked our region, just two short years before. This moment charged GeeXella to want to create more than just a dance space in the south. They wanted to curate a brave and secure ecosystem for Black, POC, Trans, and GNC folx through dance music. They created an accessible dance space that centered the lives and experiences for Black, POC, Trans, and GNC folx. They also have redistributed funds to Jacksonville Community Action Committee , Local Trans folx in need and continue to bring awareness to the oppression that BIPOC's undergo in the SOUTH.
